Best Fast Chargers for iPhone

The iPhone ships without a charger, so most people charge with whatever cable and adapter they have lying around, often slowly. The right charger and cable can cut charge time dramatically.

What wattage to buy

Modern iPhones fast-charge at up to about 27 watts, even if the box used to ship a 5W adapter. A 20W charger is the sweet spot for a fast charge, while 30W or higher adds little extra speed for an iPhone and is better spent on a multi-port charger.

The cable is half the equation

Fast charging needs both a USB-C charger and a USB-C to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C cable. An old USB-A cable limits you to slower speeds no matter how powerful the charger is.

What to look for

  • A USB-C charger with 20W or more
  • A certified cable with a stated wattage rating
  • GaN if you want the smallest possible adapter

For most iPhone users, one 20W to 30W GaN charger with a USB-C cable is the single best charging upgrade. It charges roughly three times faster than the old 5W adapter and stays compact for travel.
