How to Free Up Space on Your Phone

How to Free Up Space on Your Phone

A phone that's out of storage is usually full of photos, old apps, and cached data, not important files. Clearing these reclaims space fast without losing anything you care about.

Photos are usually the culprit

Photos and videos take the most space by far. Back them up to cloud storage or move them to a computer, then delete the local copies. Duplicate and blurry photos are the easiest to remove first.

Clear apps and caches

  • Delete apps you haven't used in months
  • Clear app caches, especially for social and streaming apps
  • Offload large apps and reinstall them to clear stored data

Other space hogs

Old downloads, podcasts, and offline videos add up quickly. Check your downloads folder and media apps, and clear anything you've already consumed.

Back up photos, clear app caches, and delete unused apps. Those three steps reclaim most of the storage on a full phone without losing anything important.
